The G20 represent a historic milestone and are part of the G20Social agenda, endorsed by UNESCO. They will kick off a series of conferences in over 3,000 favelas across Brazil, covering all 27 Brazilian states and 41 countries. These conferences, running until September 2024, aim to place the favela on the G20 map, bringing contributions from all regions of Brazil, the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania to address specific social and economic issues of these territories as part of the G20 agenda.
The key themes to be discussed by the G20 will be:
Reduction of inequalities, combating hunger, and poverty;
Sustainability;
Human rights, race, and gender;
Global challenges faced by favelas and peripheral areas.
